Performance Evaluation and Analysis of Rolechem's New ARC-S18 Sulfonyl Fluoride Compound Series
I. Performance Summary and Analysis
Rolechem has launched its new additive, ARC-S18. This series belongs to sulfonyl fluoride compounds. As a sulfonyl fluoride additive, S18 can suppress the growth of HF, reduce the activity of LiPF6 decomposition products, improve the high-temperature and rate performance of cells, and enhance cycling stability.

II. Evaluation Conditions
Cell Type: 1Ah pouch cell
Chemistry System: NCM622 / Graphite
Voltage Window: 2.75 V – 4.4 V
Electrolyte Baseline (Ref): EMC : EC : DEC = 5 : 3 : 2 , 1.1 M LiPF6, with VC + PS additives
Control Group: Electrolyte Baseline (Ref.)
Experimental Group: 1% ARC-S18
III. Experimental Results
S18 has a minimal impact on cell impedance, showing a slight decrease in impedance at both room and low temperatures, with no adverse effects on the low-temperature performance of the cells.
S18 exhibits a distinct film-forming reaction during the formation stage and can participate in the formation of the SEI. As a sulfonyl fluoride additive, S18 noticeably improves the high-temperature performance of cells, enhancing 60°C storage performance while delivering excellent rate capability. It also provides significant improvements in the high-temperature cycling performance of the cells.
IV. Conclusion
In summary, as a sulfonyl fluoride additive, ARC-S18 can participate in the formation of the anode SEI, is friendly to cell impedance, significantly improves high-temperature performance, and enhances both rate capability and cycling stability.
