Performance Evaluation and Analysis of Rolechem's New 4CN and 5CN Poly(nitrile ether) Series
I. Performance Summary and Analysis
Rolechem has launched its new additives, 4CN and 5CN. This series of poly(nitrile ether) products effectively improves the overall performance of cells under high-voltage systems.

II. Evaluation Conditions
Cell Type: 0.5Ah pouch cell
Chemistry System: LCO / Graphite
Voltage Window: 3.0 V – 4.5 V
Electrolyte Baseline (Ref): EC : PC : DMC : PrPr = 2 : 2 : 3 : 3 , 1.1 M LiPF6, with VC + LiBF4 + PST additives
Reference Groups: 1% HTCN, 1% TPN
Experimental Groups: 1% 4CN, 1% 5CN
III. Experimental Results
As poly(nitrile ether) products, 4CN and 5CN can form a protective film on the cathode side, effectively protecting the cathode interface. Compared with HTCN and TPN, 4CN and 5CN exhibit lower low-temperature impedance, offering greater advantages in enhancing the comprehensive performance of the battery. The high-voltage storage performance of 4CN and 5CN is significantly superior to that of HTCN; after 14 days of storage at 60°C, they show distinct advantages in capacity retention and recovery rates. Furthermore, compared with HTCN and TPN, 4CN and 5CN demonstrate marked improvements in low-temperature discharge performance, superior rate capability, and significantly better high-temperature cycling performance than HTCN.
IV. Conclusion
In summary, 4CN and 5CN can improve high-temperature storage and rate performance under high voltages, enhance low-temperature discharge performance, and boost cycling performance. Their performance under high-voltage conditions is comprehensively superior to that of HTCN and TPN.
